Local 686 Retiree’s Chapter                                                                                    12/12/2022

This is an open letter to the members of the UAW Local 686 Retiree’s Chapter.  This is around the 6th open letter to my brothers and sisters of the Retirees.  I have been working on a lot of things this past year and this coming year ahead, so I can keep you informed about what is going on with the union.

First of all, I want to thank my Retiree Executive Board for all of their hard work as well.  We just had our Retiree Christmas party and it went very well.  We had an Election of the International Union and Regional Director.  There will be a run-off of this Election on January 15, 2023.  So, please, when you receive your ballot in the mail, Please Vote.  If you do not receive a ballot, please call Dana Ulinski at (313) 926-5640.  To make the necessary address changes or for further assistance, contact the Retired Worker’s Department6 at (313) 926-5231 or contact the Regional Office at (716) 632-1540.  Please note, the Local Union Hall will be closed from December 26, 2022 to January 2, 2023.

On January 3, 2023, the Retiree’s meeting will resume at 2:00 p.m. with bingo at 1:00 p.m.  We still meet the 1st Tuesday of every month until May then we suspend our meetings in June, July and August.

In February, 2023, we will be holding an Election for the Election Committee for the Retiree’s Election that will be held in April.  In March, 2023, we will hold nominations for the Retiree of Local 686 Retirees Chapter for the offices of President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Recording Secretary, Treasurer, Trustee’s, Sergeant-at-Arms and Guide.

This is for some our members that have left GM Harrisons or Delphi employees that had 5 years or more in the plant and would like to join the Retiree’s Chapter of Local 686.  You can join as an Associate Member for the cost of $36.00 a year.  Your spouse can join as well by signing an application at the Union Hall, 524 Walnut Street, Lockport, NY.

Just a reminder that the benefit’s office is open at the Union Hall Monday and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. – Noon and 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. For an appointment, call (716) 433-6747 and please leave a message.

If things change for the meetings, please turn to the Lockport Union Sun & Journal and the Niagara Falls Gazette, WLVL-1340 am Radio, 105.3 fm and the UAW website as well.

In closing, I would like to say on behalf of myself and the Retiree Executive Board, we would like to wish the Retiree’s, active members, and their families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

   In Solidarity,

 Sal Pusateri, Jr., President
Retiree Chapter Local 686 UAW
