2022 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

Greetings:
This year, more than 287,850 women and 2,710 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer, and 43,250 women and 530 men will die from the disease in the United States. To help bring attention to this issue and make an impact in the fight, the International Union, UAW Women’s Department is partnering with the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer for the 9th consecutive year.

Together, we can make an impact on this disease and help the American Cancer Society save more lives from breast cancer. Since 2014, UAW and our members have fundraised a total of $625,858
To support those impacted by breast cancer, your volunteerism and contributions help the American Cancer Society fund innovative breast cancer research; provide education and guidance to help people reduce their risk and offer comprehensive patient support to those who need it most so that no one faces breast cancer alone.

Significant progress in the fight against breast cancer has been made in recent years, but there is more work to do. In a show of solidarity, the UAW Women’s Department is wholeheartedly encouraging participation from active and retired UAW members, as well as their friends and families, in your local Making Strides events. To join these efforts, register online at www.makingstrideswalk.org/UAW or call your local American Cancer Society office at 1-800-227-2345.

Members have the option to start their own UAW team or join an existing UAW team. Regardless of which option is selected, please direct everyone to choose “UAW Women” from the Company drop-down menu. There is no registration fee to participate in this event, but our goal is to challenge each registered walker to raise a minimum of $100.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the nation, celebrating more than 28 years of saving lives and uniting communities to honor those touched by the disease. The UAW Women’s Department is proud to partner in this effort. Because of the determination of supporters like you, the American Cancer Society is here for people in every community affected by breast cancer, whether they are currently dealing with a diagnosis, may face one in the future, or will avoid it altogether because of education and risk reduction efforts.

Thank you in advance for your steadfast support and playing a direct role in saving lives, celebrating lives, and leading the fight for a world without cancer.

In Solidarity,
Cindy Estrada
Vice President and Director
UAW Stellantis Department
